Suspension, £500 deal and cancelling

Hello

I ordered a new JCW earlier this week but after reading a few threads on this forum I'm now a little confused as to what I have ordered. The first question is regarding the suspension setup.

I was lead to believe that the mini cooper s can be upgraded to sport suspension but the JCW comes with an uprated version of this sport suspension as standard, with an option to upgrade further to a balls-out, bone-rattling kit if required. I opted for the former, with no boxes checked for upgrading.

Can someone please clarify the options on the JCW and how they compare to the MCS options?

I also opted for their finance deal. We negotiated the rate down to 9.7% APR and then I asked what the "£500 OFF ACCESSORIES" deal was about on their website. They then tried to explain that because I had chosen the finance route that the deal was not available. I accepted this at the time but can anyone confirm? I can't find any T&C's on the web.

I have subsequently found out that (shock-horror) I can get a much better interest rate by getting a secured loan. If I go back to them and say that I'm now, in effect, a cash buyer, do I now get the £500 off deal? and they say no, can I cancel my order?

As you can tell, I hate having the feeling of being 'salesmaned', and now I've thought about it I think they fobbed me off with the £500 off deal. If I can get any independant answers on here I'd be more than grateful to you.

Matt (UK)

Edit: I don't wish to be overly critical but these fora seem to be hosted by the slowest servers in the world...

Suspension is the same as the S, with optional sport (firmer etc), then optional JCW (which lowers it too).

You should be able to get much better APR than that, with an unsecured, let alone secured loan? You shouldn't really have signed up before shopping about. I believe you have 14 days to cancel/cool off with any finance agreement though. You may be able to go back to them and they MAY match your loan offer APR if you can prove it.

You can get more than £500 off accessories, in fact you should be able to get a decent chunk off the price of the car too if you negotiate and shop around well enough. As for the small print on that specific deal, the most you see on the UK website is: *Applies only to new vehicles and demonstrators registered between 1st April and 30th September 2009. This offer is limited to retail customers and is not applicable in conjunction with any other offer. Subject to availability and withdrawal at anytime and without notice. Please speak to a MINI Sales Executive for more details.

i work for a secured loans broker... there is no way i would secure a loan on my property to buy a car and so long as your credit history is good you can get something like 7.9% from a few high street lenders/supermarkets.

unless you are borrowing the full amount of the car, i would honestly be surprised if you can get a comparable secured rate - there aren't that good rates available at present.

As already mentioned, you should have a cooling off period and should be able to get out of the finance agreement you initially agreed to

When you say the suspension is the same as the S, I believe the S can come with standard or sport suspension, so which do you mean?

Regarding the finance, we haven't signed anything yet and I have asked Mini to hold off the credit checks until we get something sorted. We've just paid a £500 deposit so far.

You have the same choices on the JCW as the S ... standard or sport suspension. JCW suspension is dealer fit.
