Chipped Windscreen - Advice Pls

Just been hit by a stone on the motorway. Hit the windscreen bottom right corner (looking out of the car) just below the wiper sweep.

Its left a start shaped a bit bigger than a 5 pence piece

Read the thread about windscreen replacement but has anyone had experience of having their windscreen repaired?. I think Autglass can do something...

.....If so , what were the results like? Perhaps it would prevent the damage getting worse?

Hopefully try and avoid having a new windscreen (it would be my third new screen in my last three cars!!!!!! Unlucky or what?)

Thanks for any advice.

I got stone damage about the size of a 10p piece on my MINI. Only problem was that it was smack in the line of sight! I took my car to Autoglass who had to order the screen in. The screen comes with a kit of adhesive and new plastic trims.

Autoglass did an A1 job. They even removed the airbag sticker and replaced it neatly on the new screen. When I collected the car, the new screen had been cleaned, tax disc replaced, paper floor mats put down, seats covered with protective covers and also the steering wheel had a cover too!. All for my £50 windscreen excess.

I did leave the car at their depot for the repair to avoid inclement weather rather than their mobile service.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.

Tobes, in my Cooper I had a crack about 1cm long and Autoglass did a fantasitc job repairing it. It was literally invisible unless you looked really hard for it.
They even filed in chips I didn't know I even had.
They really took great care in repairing my car as they really admired my MINI and said it was the best repair that they ever did
They spent around an hour sorting out my car but alot of it was spent chatting to me about my car

In case the rest of us ever need this sort of job done, how much do they charge and should you use your insurance?

Nope, if you change screen though there's a £50 excess but no loss of NCB

Thanks Guys,

Martin L's experience means that I am trying to get Autoglass to repair the damage. Thanks Martin

Car now booked in for tomorrow.

Will let you know what kind of job they make of it.

According to Autoglass, they can fix damage if it is no bigger than a pound coin

yup I had a chipped windscreen a star looking one I didnt wnat to replace the screen cuz requires them to take everything apart the cars good now no squeeks nothing loose on the dash dont want to have it messed with so i paried $50 to get it fill the results were good. Less noticeable and will prevent future cracking so I think its the way to go if u dont want to replace the screen.
