Talking Why did you buy your Mini?

Hello, everybody

I am a Brazilian girl who is trying to know Mini cars better, since they are coming to Brazil next year. My ad agency will be launching the campaign, so I need you help to know

Why did you buy your Mini? I mean, the main reason (or reasons) that made you choose this car, and not another small car...

I really appreciate all your help

Simple answer - SMILES!

fun to look at from the outside, fun to look at from the inside, and most of all fun to drive.

... oh and the quality was a major factor aswell. I don't like cars that feel as solid as a coke can.

Because I was in the market for a new car and I used to be a proper mini fan! Only ever had minis (except one spell with a Pug 205) and it seemed like a good choice

Plus, it makes you smile like no other car (except the original )

the MINI has gone...

I fell in love with the looks!!

When I test drove one it was the most fun I'd had on the road this side of a sports bike (still is).

I had problems with my first MINI and had it rejected. I am now on my second MINI which up to two weeks ago has been perfect.

I've now been told it needs a new gearbox!!! and I am still in love with the bloody thing!

There has got to be something special about MINI for me to still be an owner!

MINI is now on it's final warning though!

Great Question, tatimaio!

I was ready for a fun, high performance car.

After years of driving Civics and 4x4 trucks, I was ready for a fun car, that didn't cost alot and could be driven 50 miles a day...the smiles were an afterthought!

Its the one car that everyone should own in their lifetime, like the old Mini

I was not in the market for a new car but felt that sooner or later I would buy a new model MINI and you only get one chance to be one of the first so I bought a COOPER

Having owned it for a year i then sold it (and boy do I miss it)

Still I'm getting another new Cooper in Two weeks

Perhaps you should come over to Scotland and do some Reserch

Because it looks fantastic.
Because it handles brilliantly.
Because it's different from most cars.
Because it's well-put together.

reasons why I bought a MINI:
1. Its a MINI (I loved the whole front drive rallying idea)
2. go-cart handling
3. distinctiveness
4. luxury in a small package
5. chicks will dig it
6. posers think its a BMW
7. I wanted a small 2dr hatchback
8. 4-seater but realistically only a 2-seater
9. CVT
10. It was within my budget

What one reason that sold me? The car. To break it down more than that would require more than one reason.

It is a unique little car, a street-legal go-cart. I was shopping for small cars for months and I'd take a test drive, think, "hmm, that wasn't too bad," and then later on I'd say, "nah, don't really HAVE to buy that car." After test driving the MINI I just couldn't get it out of my head, the amazing handling, steering, driving sensation, the unique looks inside and out and the looks and questions you get from others. Luckily for me there was one available on the lot so it took less than a week from first test drive to pick-up -- I don't think I could have lasted for the sort of waits some of the people here have gone through.

I was all set to buy a Subaru WRX. I was just waiting for the financing to go through when I decided on a whim to drive the MINI.

I was sold. Although slower than the WRX, the MINI was much more fun to drive. The handling was amazing. I haven't received my car yet, but I'm already far more excited than I was about taking delivery of the Subaru.

I had reached a point in my life where I was able to be a bit selfish. So I was looking for a car that was small, because I only wanted it for myself alone. And I wanted character, because I am not your plain ordinary average guy. And if I could get comfort and even safety besides, that would be extra.

I always loved those small English cars, like the Austin Healy bug-eye Sprite, the old MGs, and the classic Mini, but I don't have the time, space, or tools to be able to make a hobby of repairing them. So at the time, I was sort of inclined toward a Mazda Miata, but not so inclined that I wanted to sell my current car before it was worn out.

Then I saw, back in '99, that the Mini was going to be brought back to America with modern engineering. I knew I had to have one. After quite a long wait, I have my own MINI, and it's been everything I hoped for, and more. And it's not so small on the inside! But I keep all the space a secret.

I had started saving for a 325 ...

then a whirlwind of rumor, suggestion from my mechanic, www.mini.com (woo-hoo! that car is me!), www.mini2.com (oh, so its not perfect, neither am i, so woohoo!), phone shopping, ordered, shipped, OH MY! it is even better in person! Weekend in the mountains, and I have no desire for any other car.

30 seconds into a test drive of a Cooper S I had to have one , they don`t need sales people to sell them IMHO .
Just look at the length of time people are prepared to wait for them .

Thumbs up

I was due to get a new car. My previous car, an Infiniti J30, still ran fine but had 160k+ miles on it. It was a great car, and I have no regrets about it, but this time around I wanted something fun and funky. And small. The four-door J30 was really more car than I needed or wanted, because after I got the J30 I also got a minivan. So, if I need to haul lots of people or lots of stuff, I'd just use the van. Really, what I wanted was a fun yet fairly sensible daily driver.

I sat in the Audi TT, and I hated it. Never even test-drove it. What was the point? No headroom, and my knees were rammed up against the dash. I'm 6'2." That's on the tall size, just by a little, but the TT was awful. Very tall-unfriendly.

I then sat in an SLK, and I hated that too. Again, too claustrophobic.

Anyway, at some point I started seeing the first MINI photos, and I though it was immensely cool. Over the course of the previous year, I'd been to a few car shows, but the MINI was either not there, or it was locked and you couldn't get inside.

Earlier in the year, I had business up in LA, and on the way back I decided to drop by a MINI dealer. I figured I'd sit in the car, hate it too, and that would be the end of that. Well, as we now know, that didn't happen. Wow, this thing has more headroom than the Infiniti, let's take it for a spin.

Once I drove one, that was it. I was hooked. I had to have one. Simple as that. It was quick, it was nimble, just point-and-squirt. It's exactly the right amount of car for me. I still have the minivan for hauling stuff, and now I have the Mini for hauling @ss!

But seriously, not only is this the best car I've ever owned, it's probably the best car I've ever driven.
