If the sensor has activated, it means that you need a new one. These aren't expensive (£12ish + VAT?) from a dealer. Due to their design, they're single use - so once the change brake pad light comes on you'll need to replace the sensor. Really, you should be changing pads before it comes on - it's just your safety mechanism that costs you a cheap sensor rather than an expensive disc at the last minute.

Once this is changed over, a little bit of driving should be sufficient to turn the brake pad warning light off.

All the best,
Andrew.
