buying from a distaance

ok so trading in my r53 mcs for a clubbie cooper but living in scotland means that:

A) choice of cars is crap
b) not much hope of a good deal as so few mini dealers up here

so been talking to a couple of dealers down south who have cars I'm intrested in, both of these dealers are 200 + miles from me. spoke to one of the dealers about how he would arrnage the deal and he said he would want me to drive to him so he could value the trade in then if all went well he would deliver my clubbie the following week........thats a 400 mile round trip to value my car even although he has already offered me a good trade in value???????

I have bought cars at a distance before and always traded in and they have never expected me to go to them for a valuation they have always agreed to proceed on the basis that when the car is delivered my car isnt a shed

yeah but none of them have clubbies a decent prices we seem to pay 1000-1500 more for the exact same car down south, just because were in scotland

they have one and its a year older than the one i'm looking at and its 500 quid more expensive has more miles and less options, so I think point proven Scottish dealers rip you off as you have little choice

400 mile round trip?!!

That sales person is a joker...it can all be done over the phone just be very honest with the description of your part exchange thats all...I've sold plenty nationwide and never met the person as we have sent a driver to deliver their car, I've had no problems with unseen sales either although im sure some people have

I've part x'd from 200+ miles without visits. one time i e-mailed photos of my vehicle as it was like new but they seemed to disbelieve this. Also as you're the customer and giving them your car plus cash they should bring the potential purchase to you to see before you decide! After all its a tough marketplace today. they need your custom.
