Yes he has posted on a MINI forum, but I've driven both and the Z4 in the best handling, most responsive and most fun car I've ever driven over the last 28 years! Even when compared to a nice R53 The noise that straight 6 makes with the roof down is fabulous and the 1.6 PAG/BMW 4 cylinder in the current MINI can't compete. The boots in both cars are similarly useless, but if you can live without the marginal rear seats in the MINI, if they are coming out at a similar price and you can afford the insurance costs then this is an absolute no brainer: Buy the Z4 ![]() Tigger. PS: Come to think of it, you're even talking about the standard Cooper, not even the "S". This is not a contest, it's a walk over! ![]() May '04 - Feb '07 R50, Feb '07 - May '10 R53. Enjoyed our time with MINI's, but ran out of space! Now Focus RS & Land Rover powered...

Depends on how you intend on using/driving the car... If you're coming from a Cooper S are you going to be ok with the drop in performance down to a standard cooper? Or is it just the wind in the hair you fancy? As a big fan of rear wheel drive I'd say Z4 if you can live without occasional rear seats. As an aside, you could get a very smart MX5 for that money... (no joke )

I just messaged my son, message reads: "quick, speak to ****, his dad has gone crazy, had some sort of breakdown. He's considering selling the MINI for a BMW Z4, he needs serious help."

Gone the opposite way? Sold a 2&1/2yr old Z4 2.5si about 2months ago.Yes silky smooth engine/lovely sound, boot space bit bigger than the Mini, But Wanted something to make my own, with bits and bobs (mods) i can do that with the Mini. Performance wise The Z4 2.5si is 218bhp, standard 2.5 177. Mpg 36.6 is about right, tax @ £245 again the Mini cooper S will beat those specs if you want to go down that road? Buying new you have a 3yr warrenty & tlc for 5yrs for £185. With the Z4 make sure you take out the extended cover. Take alook at the Z4-Forum.com, like this site full of very helpful and knowlegable folks. In the end its what YOU want? MD

MILTON ( R53 ), Is going nowhere! My Cooper S is a lifer, It is Lindas car that on its last legs, an whilst the scrappage scheme is still on and VAT is at 15% It kinda makes sence to go far a 2nd MINI in the family. Then you look at the options, and topless motoring is very attractive. So is a deep blue and extended grey leather specced up Z4. Not decided on this one yet..

Phewwwww! Hell of a decision to make, the Z4 is lovely and if it's going to be a girl's car then it would be a good choice ( all the Z4s I know personally are owned by women).
