Stuck in snow?

Reading (Berkshire, UK) was completly gridlocked, it was taking people 6 hours to get across town. People slept at work, I saw so many abandoned cars as I walked home. Crazy.

So... Anyone get stuck in the snow last night?

Anyone got any snow driving techniques?

Snow is slightly atrocious here, took about 2 hours to get from G'ford to home when it usually takes about 15 minutes... I hate snow when I need to do things, its the BIGGEST inconvenience in the history of weather

Clearly us soft southerners aren't used to it!

Reading Thames Valley Park to Wokingham in 2 hours last night having left it until 7pm to let the queues die down. We had about 30-40 folks sleep over in the office.

The GP itself performed great, though was a little hairy on the A329. Shame it's being traded in tomorrow - will be out of a MINI for the first time in 7+ years.

I'm going to get the train over to wokingam in a bit to rescue Mrs MINIcharged. Hopefully it won't be too bad on the way home!

Car was stuck - but luckily at my parents in Caversham - spent the night there as nothing was getting in or out!

Looked about this morning - and it was still mostly like 'the day after tomorrow' so left the car there and walked home.

Have to say whilst the 18' wheels with runflats are fine in the summer they are a no no in the snow

I'm in Reading too. Left Newbury at 3.30 got home at 7.30. Had to dump the Mini 2 miles from home and walk the rest. Went and collected the car at lunchtime and its now tucked up outside on the drive.

Well... Got home safe and sound, no 'excitement' to report. The main roads seem quite good now, still a bit sketchy on the side roads but ok if you're not a tool. Had a little chuckle at a guy in a lotus Esprit though.

Also, I didn't realise how low the MCS is, mine is not lowered but you could hear it scraping the pilled up snow in the middle of the road!

Took me nearly 2 hours to drive 5 miles from Epsom to Sutton. I filled up about half a mile in and zeroed the indicators...For much of the journey, I managed about 8mpg and 2.5 mph in the JCW About 20 minutes this evening!

Took my girlfriend 6 hours to travel from centre of Pangbourne to Jct 12 M4 a distance of about 4 miles. She was not happy. Especially as I was safely home by 16:45
