Brits choose such dull Mini colo(u)rs!!

Sorry for the provocative title! But we were quite surprised in our Mini census in England last month (described in http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=17733).

The predominant colors on the 47 new Minis that we saw in 4 weeks of driving around in England were such dark and formal ones for such a fun little car: silver, dark blue, dark green (yes, I know BRG has a fine heritage), even all-black!

Of those 47 Minis, just 2 were Chili red and a lonely one was yellow. C'mon, Brits, let's have some bright colors out there!

We have too few Minis as yet in NJ to get a good tally, but we already have a fair number of red and yellow ones. Our local Mini/BMW dealer notes that their BMW's tend to sell in dark and formal colors, whereas Minis are often ordered in brighter tones.

re boring choice of mini colours

I'm British and proud of bright blue with broad white FULL stripes. Don't tarnish everyone with dulness. Bev

But the Florida drivers make up for it!

It seems like they all bought chili red, from looking at the cars attending Eurofest.

BORING BLACK?

What about stripes and roofs...They make a big difference. Poll results please

I have a friend with a black [boring?] MINI Cooper.

~~~~ Well, black with white stripes and a b/w chequered roof which is spottable from two miles away Boring? NOT
Eh, I doubt if anyone would call Apple dull!
Mind you, one would not describe me as a "normal" Brit either (first generation Chinese imigrant)!
Shep, can't speak for England (never been there, but would love to go sometime...), but there'll be one more bright Mini motoring around your hometown of Princeton soon enough. I work in Princeton and will be driving my car there daily starting later this week (picking it up tomorrow!)
Paul, that's great. Welcome to the Princeton neighborhood to you and your new electric-blue Cooper S. (A nice bright color!). I'll be on the lookout.
We will be getting "vanity plates" soon: our red/white Mini will have the licence plate "OURMINI" in a few weeks.
My wife sums it up quite well- the fun aspect of the MINI just begs for bright, fun colours. I must say I agree that certain colours match the attitude of the car better than others
Penfold, WAS a Chili Red One
Salt, 8 spokes, CD changer, Manual A/C, Alarm, Mudflaps, Clear lights, Chrome pipe, OBC, Aero spoiler, '03 Leather wheel, Aux lights, Whalen shifter.....
