In any event cheers for your thoughts. I'll have a look round the dealers and see who's got the best chat.

Dont get your hopes up with Douglas Park..they aint great!..the guy did make me laugh though..asked me "why a wanted a mini??"..so just lost his commision right there..and then showed me the same car that i had just got rid of!..an Astro Black Cooper with a sunroof..I asked him for a Hyper Blue Cooper S..sunroof..H/K..MFSW..Aero Kit..heated seats..basically a top spec one..was lookinf for as much of that as possible, and thats what he hit me with!

I'm in the West End, near Byres Road.

God I know about Douglas Park, I bought my Mini One out of there back when it was Henry Brothers, but didn't return for my Cooper, went to Harry Fairbairns for that. Which is where I'll be going this time.

Factory kit is a win now the arches are colour coded. When they used to come with black arches they looked crap! Hows the first gen aero kit low quality?! Its made in the same way so...

Anyway... If you were to get a JCW I'm sure someone would gladly swap for your body kit. If not you could always get the stage 1 tuning kit - faster than an s, slower than a works... I love the mayfair, and apart from the wheel gap, its near enough perfect In my eyes of course!

Okay, I'm starting to come around to the Works now that I've seen it in the metal rather than just online / driving past one.

It was so flimsy! I loved the skirts (and grill) and had them on both of my first gen cars, but the front and rear bumpers looked and felt incredibly cheap in my opinion.

I think it depends a lot on the colour... I saw a Mellow Yellow JCW a while back which looked amazing.

You must have felt one that didn't have the optional reinforcing then

Minicore, the JCW in question was in the light blue colour, which I previously wasn't a fan of, but I like now.

I'm starting to spec my own JCW in my head. I'm thinking either dark blue / british racing green (is it still called British Racing Green?) both with a white roof and white stripes and the black lounge interior.

Annoyingly they also had a couple of Mayfair's in stock and I love the interior trim in those.

Can you not get a Mayfair JCW? I'm pretty sure they did JCW special editions a few years back!

You can get a JCW tuned mayfair, however its not to the same power as the factory JCW. 192BHP as opposed to 210BHP...

Apparently not, although quite how it's so difficult to put a brown leather interior into a car that isn't a Mayfair is beyond me.

Weren't the special edition JCW's the world championship and and the GP?

I'm sure I spoke to someone with a JCW Checkmate (basically a factory JCW with all the Checkmate trim) a while back? I guess if that was the case, they stopped doing it when the second generation arrived... which is a shame. Then again, I may be completely wrong?

Also known as "Overpriced" and "Impractical" respectively?
