I'm not 100% sure. Thought I'd ask on here in the event that someone knew.

Spots? I think the dealer fits them once the car arrives. Try to get them thrown in for free.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of an article (or thread) that explains the difference between Cooper models?

That's a pretty open question?

There's the first gen Cooper, Cooper JCW, Cooper S, Cooper S Works and Cooper S Works GP. Now there's the second gen Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S, Cooper S JCW, John Cooper Works, and most recently the JCW World Championship 50... and that's without mentioning the cabrio and Clubman versions, or the One/First variants.

You'll probably find most of what you're looking for here:

Scroll down a bit if you're only interested in the second generation cars.

Can I just say, don't overlook the MINI One. That was my first car and I can honestly say it's one of the few things I've ever been in that was such a good laugh. The Cooper and the Cooper S etc all obviously have more power, but they also have the same chassis and handling capabilities. So if you're looking to save money; get a MINI One, find someone who is capable of altering the cars computer controlled stuff and thus increase the power the engine produces to the same level as the Cooper. Then to further confuse people, debadge it.

Thought I'd chime in with some consumer advice.

Not at Taggarts, up the other end just before the Killermont car dealership, saw a Cooper S checkmate, figured it was you.

Well that solves that mystery. I'm thinking I'll head into the dealership and place my order when I get back from my work trip. Still undecided between British Racing Green and the Dark Blue ... decisions decisions.

, now you have a vague idea of how I've been the last few weeks. At first I wanted either blue with a white roof, or white with a black roof, which is why I liked the Mayfair, it had everything I wanted aside from the power. Then I went on the MINI website and pressed BRG by mistake and thus we arrive at my present problem.

I'm leaving next week and I'll be away for "at least two weeks, at most two months" ... that's how I play the game.
