Xeon Headlight Washers

I have a niggling problem with my Xeon Headlight Washers.
I have a 2002 MINI Cooper (JCW). The headlight washers work perfectly 'once' after the ignition is turned on, then they no longer function until the ignition is turned off and on again, then they will work for one more wash.

I have had the BC1 unit replaced with a new unit and reprogrammed. This hasn't resolved the problem. I have had the new BC1 unit recheck and reprogrammed along with the keys. This hasn't resolved the problem. The reservoir of washer fluid is full, the other washers, window front and rear are all functioning and as I have already stated, the headlight washers work perfectly once and will work again after the ignition has been turned off and on again.

I have tested the headlight washers on two other MINIs ( circa 2002-2004 ) both their washers work and repeat after 5 to 10 minutes.

Any help or advice would be gratefully accepted.

Keith

Did they stop working at some point, or always behaved like this? It's usually every third squirt of the screen the washers for the lights activate (or after a certain time if it's longer than three squirts).

Hi Paul

With the lights on, the headlight washers were working normally up until a month ago. They would work once then again after 10 minutes or after 4 windshield washes. A month ago while out on a run they worked once soon after we started off, then they wouldn't work again. At the next stop I checked fluid levels and topped them up. The headlight washers worked once more and then no more until the ignition had been turned off and on again.

Thank you for the enquiry.

Keith

Nothing "dramatic" happened on the run? No knocks or large water hazards?

Really odd if the BC1 is checked out and the parts are all there! It's not an overly complicated mechanism in itself. Weird.

Hi Paul,

No, a nice quiet run along the North Cornwall Coast. No incidents at all. It just stopped working!

The bit I can't understand is that it works perfectly for the one wash when the ignition is first turned on. It works perfectly when the ignition is turned off and on again, but it will not repeat, no matter how often you use the screen wash or how long you wait between washes.
