New JCW owner saying hi

Evening all, or morning, depending on where you are

Iv'e had my 'thug on steroids' for a little over two weeks now and the grin still hasn't evaporated from my face. My first car way back in 1979 was a Mini Cooper 997 S in BRG with Paddy Hopkirk buckets, Minilite wheels and single pipe exhaust. Since those distant days I've always promised myself I'd get another one one day. Well now I have, albeit one of what some consider to be the fraud of the Mini name, a 2003 John Cooper Works.

The power and torque from the supercharger above 3000 rpm in any gear is truly awesome. I've tried driving like a man of my ongoing years should drive a car but I just can't seem to do it I've seen off a VW R32, a Focus ST and spotty little oik in a Clio Sport who thought it would be fun to try and be Bertie Big B******s and get right up my chuff and flash me......what fun.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Expect to read more from me after the London to Brighton Mini Run next weekend and Beaulieu in June

Phil

Hi Phil, i know how u feel as i picked up my 2003 JCW yesterday, it's an amazing car to drive. I think its going to take some getting used to as my gear changes in it are terrible. Anyway happy driving.

Your not wrong about the gear changes Clare. After 4 years of a 1200 Fiesta with 75bhp and five gears to then go to 210bhp with six takes some getting used to. Can't help but plant my foot and hear that supercharger whine and the 'pop pop' from the exhaust on breath back. Might take it a little easier when the thought of 1 litre of oil every 1000 miles and 15mpg when hard driving finally sinks in Won't be for a while yet though.
Can't wait for the London to Brighton run this weekend now. Mid life crisis? What mid life crisis

Live the mid life crisis - get a JCW Mini
