With a 8/21 build I think your MINI is considered a 2002, one key. My understanding is that 2003's are 9/01 and later. (USA date convention, mm/dd). Offline | I picked my 'S' up on Tuesday and was hopeful of the extra key, but it does seem that the UK only gets one remote key. But.... It did come with a jack (which I was expecting to have to buy). The remote boot opening seem to have been deleted. The glove box is great (compared to a shelf). So, overall a plus for the UK 2003 spec.... But....Could have done better!! S collected...as promised at 12:00 on 29 Oct - really getting to know it now - great car - DS (black roof), full leather, sunroof, full Chilli and most of the other bits...got a bit carried away at the dealership!!! |

Offline | The prices vary somewhat. Mine was £67 inc VAT. Seen someone else quoting £100 I think. They need to take the car in to get the key working as they have to program something. The £67 for me included the programming but I suspect that was only because the sales dept organised the whole thing for me. It is definately worth having two as my wife and I both drive the car. Offline | I think it's outrageous! Does the second regular key switch off the alarm when you open the doors? I don't know as my girlfriend has the keys and we're not speaking to each other at the mo I know using the plastic emergency key doesn't disarm the alarm as I set it off when I went to get something out of the car, impromptu, whilst walking to the tube station. The dealer has got me a key (£70.01), although I'm not picking it up as I only asked them to get me a price. They claim they would charge me cost price! Is this correct as I'm going to ring up a few other MINI garages. -------------------------------------------- MCS in EB/B, Chilli, Auto A/C, MD and CD changer. | MINI2 Regular | I just got my '03 and it came with second key. The '03 price was ~$125 more than '02. The dealer said the price increase was to cover the key. To order a key would be around $125. So if the UK '03 price did not go up, then all is the same. If you can buy an extra key for less, then UK is better off. '03 LY/B MCS |

Offline | Is anyone else a little disappointed with the glovebox though? I'd rather have one than not but, I was kind of hoping it would be a bit more chunky - I'm almost embarrassed to let my passenger open it! Got it and I LOVE IT! |

Offline | While I welcome the glovebox, a quality engineered item, it is not as mine has a habit of opening itself on occasion. Before I took deliver I was lent a Cooper S with a passenger shelf instead, and my girlfriend was forever catching stuff that was flying out of the compartment, such as CDs, mobile phones, and so on. With the glovebox these outburts happen with less frequency. Despite my penchant for speedy acceleration. As for deletion of said glovebox, I don't see why not as a no cost option. -------------------------------------------- MCS in EB/B, Chilli, Auto A/C, MD and CD changer.
