Offline | Did i Get a Good Deal on my Mini... please tell me ok here is what happened..several paragraphs long but it reads fast.. i wanted to give the whole story in a summrized, but complete story.. please read on.. i originaly placed an order for a base mini, red, white top, white mirrors, white wheels sunroof, fogs, floor mats... sticker came to 17,915.. i put $500 down.. that was the price, 17,915. no add ons.. here is where it gets interesting...it was scheduled to be made early november..if all went well i could possibly have it by end of november.. from reading some of the posts i was starting to wonder if it would really arrive in november.. anyway. i took my mom for a ride up to the dealer today (11/02) i overheard a customer talking about a lease ad they saw in the paper. i walked over and saw the ad, basicaly a base mini with fogs, mats, sunroom and another option or so taking price of car to about 18,300. the lease deal was 999 down and 47 more payments of 249. that includes tax.. without tax it would equate to about 930 down and 234 a month.. out of the clear blue i thought about leasing a mini from what he had in stock. he had a pepper white with real leather, two tone leather. that added 1,250. to sticker.. then it had combo #1 package, mulitfunction steering wheel w/ cruise and audio controls, leather wheel, sunroof, auto air, on board computer.. then it had heated front seats, fogs, floor mats.. came to msrp of about 19,900.. a full 2,000 over my first choice and about 1,600 more than the lease ad deal.. here is the deal i got.. 1,220 down and 47 more payments of 259 a month.. that includes sales tax.. without tax it would have worked out to about 1,157 down and 47 more payments of $245 is that a decent deal, a good deal, a fair deal, a bad deal, a great deal?.. also i now color selection is subjective and a matter or opininon.. the red/white combo is shocking and bold but don't you think that may get kind of old in a few weeks.. the pepper white with black mirrors is kind of classic i thought.. please give me your feedback. did i do ok on this deal thanks jim |

Offline | Ok, so if I follow this right you're leasing a car for 4 years for $13393 total. Is that right? I've never really "gotten" leasing myself since I tend to hang on to cars for a long time, but it seems to me that if you change cars every few years that isn't a bad deal. Oh except for the color. The red doesn't get "old" I assure you. |

Offline | those seem about like the numbers. lot less montly payment. and when warranty is over i would probably turn car in, after the 4th year.. i get some peace of mind knowing that i basically should never have to pay for a repair if something goes wrong with the car. first 3 years free maintainence, entire lease, full warranty.. if i bought i would have concern about what is going to happen to the car after 4 years if something major happened to it..for me it provides peace of mind.. i see silly pontiac grand ams and other lame cars advertised for about what i am paying for my mini... that seems like a winner, at least in my case.. |

Offline | True, of course that lack of maintenance costs in later years has to be put up against the fact that you will be making lease payments on whatever you drive next while someone who bought their car will be relieved of any monthly payments after a few years (3 in my case). I mean I used to have a fair number of repair bills on my Mustang, but it was still cheaper than paying a monthly lease or new car payment. |

Offline | I think one of the most important factors for you to consider is mileage. You are limited to so many miles over the life of the lease aren't you? I've had my MCS 9 weeks and have 6400 miles on it. No one could have ever made me beleive this would happen. If you love the car like many of us do, you will put more miles on the clock than you ever thought was possible. Another reason I've never done a lease is because I usually end up doing some sort of modification. However you do it, you are definately gonna love your MINI ![]() Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | I think you did fine on your deal. There are benefits and drawbacks to a lease, you just have to decide which suits you best. As for your color choice, I do love the pepper white! To Cape Cod MINI, I like your new avatar, but I miss the fish. ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | I guess i misread this I thought the main question was DID I GET A GOOD DEAL. In my opinion Yes, very good and fair pricing. The lease payment increased the correct amount to cover cost increase(from what you have shown). Lease / Purchase the story will go on for ever, pros and cons both ways. MOTOR ON you made the deal, no more buyers remorse Enjoy the MINI Jim |
