Remote central locking problem Hello,
I am wondering if you can help, I have a 2001 MINI Cooper with the factory fitted alarm system that incorporates interior sensing. I am now experiencing a problem with the remote key fob not activating the alarm and not operating the central locking. The alarm is not activating after a flat battery, the key was left in the car after using the cigar lighter to power a tyre inflation pump briefly, the key was left in position 1, the door was on the latch but not fully closed, the car was in this state for 24 hrs approx. I've since taken the car to the local Mini dealership but after an hour of trying their methods they were to no avail, now they want to try the “replace each part in the system until it works” method, which sounds expensive to me (it’s been suggested a minimum of £300 for labour and one part, if they solve the problem on the first replacement part, that is).
The alarm “receiver” has the following printed on it and is located above the headlining above the rearview mirror:
4109140, 433Mhz STAR II AB 0010960, 30/01 XX 1826, CE0682 (I’ve read that it’s a version of the SERPI STAR alarm)
I’ve trawled the net and found the suggestion that the remote has lost its synchronization with the alarm, but the dealer has checked this out and said that he had re synchronized it but it still doesn’t work.
I really hope you can help directly? or suggest another avenue for me to try?, (you were recommended by the guys at bmw-planet.com.)
Yours in anticipation…..
