Question glass sunroof

Hello, i'm new here. On this moment i'm driving a Audi S3. which will be replaced for a mini Cooper S.

Yesterday I ordered A full loaded mini Cooper S, included a glass sunroof. I've to wait 7 months for dilivery

Now i've a question.. Different people i spoked, said don't order a glas sunroof !

because a big sunroof, make windnoise at high speeds, the car is less stiff, and the sunroof never shuts up completely.

Is this true ??

Are there any problems with the sunroof ?

I like to ride on the legendary Nürburgring(2000 km each year) , on this track, the speeds are extremly high, and the stiffness of there car very important. And I don't want problems with the sunroof.

advise please ??

(sorry for my bad english)

I have a sunroof in my Cooper,
but I won't be having one in my Cooper S -

I have had LOTS of squeaks and rattles,
it IS noisy at speed, and I really don't use it very much - plus it saves me £500

I also love my sunroof and have had no problems. No rattles or squeaks and it closes tight as a ducks bum! Can be noisy at speed when its open but I like the more open feel. Come back summer so i can use it more

We love our sunroof! It closes up very tight - has never leaked even in the hardest driving rain

It is a tad noisy - but you kind of get used to it...... nothing better than motoring on a nice day with it open or star gazing on a clear, crisp night

I didnt go for the sunroof, mostly because it breaks the lines of the white roof. Reading your concerns, it seems you plan to put a bit more stress on the car that the average commuter. I read somewhere that that much glass and mechanics would add a bit of weight, on the very top, not the best to realize this cars awsome conering abilities. I'll add that if I had a black top, htere would be a sunroof right in the middle.Decisions,decisions.....

I had a 2001 model Cooper with Sunrrof and it was noisy and rattly but now I have a 2003 model and it is silent and I love it, bear in mind the fabric roof available now/soon

SUN -- ROOF ??

Hello,
I have glass sunroof and I love it!
First it brings so much light into the car! So even closed, it's great!
It's one of biggest sunroofs I've ever had. Second, it opens outside so doesn't consume any head space. I worried about white roof, in fact was mentioned on this forum, but no problem at all.
No noise whatsoever when closed. Finally, the plastic netting is good way to drive at relative speed with sunroof open, cuts down turbulence and still brings in fresh air.
I'd say it's brillant, second only to the GPS!
cheers

Rico I can't help you on the glass roof but I am very much a fan of the 'Ring. Whenever you take the Mini for a run you need to get it on video. The nearest I can get to the 'Ring is in a game called GPL. Have fun when you take it there.

I haven't got my MINI yet (oooh so close now) but in the demo car there was a rattle coming from the sunroof and it was noisy at high speed. However the airiness and spaceous feel it gives the car are worth those potential niggles easily, so I ordered one.

The sunroof was top of the (small) list of things I didn't want on the car....until I saw it, a drove a car with and with out it.

I can't make my mind up if I like it with a white roof or not, but thats a personal thing.

When my car went in for sum work, they gave me a black cooper with the chilli pack, no sunroof, and i have to say it felt horrible driving it, felt very inclosed. I think the sunroof gives a nice air'y feel to the car

The mini after me is a Hamann tuned Cooper (165 horsepower).. extremly fast car.. even with my S3 i can't fix the mini..!!

Yes a Mini is a better driver car than A Audi 247 bhp S3.. That's the reasson why i ordered a Cooper S
