I just need to get this off my chest...

I've been wanting to get this off my chest for some time now.

I was a member on mini2 for some time, but maybe it's the disappointment i have every day driving my MCS that i've completely forgotten my log in details. anyway...

I owned the first BMW MCS and loved every second of it. I traded it in on March 1st 2007 for the R56. I've felt very disappointed since that day.
I've had numerous problems with the timing belt (seems to be a common problem) but the performance of the car is just awful. In 3 and a half years Ive only done 14,000 miles and the car is like a tortoise in led boots,
I struggle to keep up with ford fiesta's! when the car is turned on first thing it just wants to kangaroo jump for the first 20 minutes until it's warmed up, and when its floored I'm always fearful that the car is gonna fall to pieces.
Quite frankly, i cant stand this car.

After number crunching i've discovered that for financial reasons it would be near impossible to sell the car to get a golf gti, the car i've wanted for so long. i'm stuck with this thing now, driving used to be fun in my first MCS, now it's just gut wrenching and painful.

I just wanted to get this off my chest people
thank you all.

Even Golf Gti's have their problems...........
.......new engine required
Just over a year old and it's died...

Sorry to hear your problems.............Must be something seriously wrong with your MCS if it is 'like a tortoise in lead boots?'

Honest, there's something wrong with your car if it feels slow.

My first R56 S came after a two year love affair with an R53 and it felt so much faster (I know it wasn't but it just 'felt' fast)

i've had the odd flashes of brilliance where I feel, my god this car is good!
but it only lasts until the next journey where it's back to treading water again.
Im gonna test drive a MCS of the same age at the dealer I bought the car from, see if I can notice any difference. Regardless, I'm still stuck with the bloody thing.

Thanks for your replies you lovely people

From the user reviews I've read of the 2007 model MCS, many people have had problems with them. While it's expected that after a major redesign there will be more problems in the first run, the 2007 model year seems to have really gotten the short end of the stick.

This worries me somewhat, because the engine and interior were redesigned for 2011, and I'm about to pick my 2011 MCS up towards the end of the month.

Sorry to hear about all of your problems with the car. Maybe it's worth checking out a more modern (or even older) model year.
