My daughters 12 month old r56 cooper has a large crack in windscreen which appeared but there was no sign of stone hitting it . I believe this is a stress crack and am hoping it will be replacedunder warranty. Has anyone had a similar problem ?
either that or pouring hot water on it to remove frost is a serious no no
Better off taking the hit and having it done under insurance, however my sister-in-law's R53 had a cracked windscreen that the root of which was found at the very corner of the screen
It was discovered that the screen had been put in twisted and when she went over a pot hole the screen cracked.
May be worth a try under warranty but don't be surprised when they laugh at you
Thanks for the suggestions . It certainly wasnt a stone chip and no hot water has been near it so it must ne stress . But as you all say its going to be a difficult conversation with sytners tomorrow . Thanks
I wonder how on earth that could happen? The process of bonding the screen into place at the factory is completely automated, untouched by human hand. It should be completely consistent....

My 2003 MINI had a cracked windscreen. -10C outside when it happened. No physical damage to screen before it went although ever since I got the car once the heater was on for a short while you could hear a crack from the front of the car. The petrol MINI heater was excellent. Snug as a bug in the cold weather. Didn't surprise me when it went. It's replacement carried on the tradition so I wouldn't be surprised if it went sometime soon too but I've since sold the car.
