is this because of traction control?

hi guys

this morning i've gone for a ride and something weird/unusal happened.

I've been driving my r56 JCW for some time now, and I always drive with sports off, and dtc on.

This morning i was driving up a steep hill, and came to a very short & sharp corner to the right, and somehow my mini did not steer as much as it was supposed to (compared to the amount the steering wheel was turned). it was something like an understeer, however the 'weird' thing is that i was driving quite slow, maybe 20ish km/h if not less.

could it be that the dts was fooled in some way given the circumstances of the steep road/turn, and kept me in a straight drive to avoid the "turn"?

Its my first time the mini behaved this way, and i did not quite like it. I mean no harm was done as i was driving slowly, but the mini could have sent me the other way into the wall

any help much appriciated
thanks!

Traction yes; traction control no.

Sounds like you skidded slightly for whatever reason - slush, ice, oil, leaves etc.

Neither the traction control or stability control programmes have the ability to affect the physical steering angle.

Might be worth giving your tyres a quick inspection, but you probably won't find anything wrong.

Sounds like regular winter driving. But no your traction control has no effect on steering, in the sense that it takes over. It aids, not takes over from the driver.

thanks guys for your reply

Ice shouldnt be the matter as we dont have such temperatures here, and it was quite sunny and hot. maybe some oil, but i'll just drive again through that part and see if it acts weird again

cheers
