High milers

We all know that the MINI is a great car, albeit one with a number of niggly problems. Hopefully BMW is working to improve its quality control.

What we don't really know yet is how robust the car is over time.

Firstly, I was wondering whose MINI here has the highest mileage. Secondly, of those with relatively high mileage on their cars, have any of you seen problems attributable to wear and tear?

Probably not a lot for MINI One owners, but I've got 13,500 on my 2002 MINI Cooper (for the record, it had 2,500 on it when I bought it as a DEMO).
I drove to Detroit, then to DC and back home to Florida two weeks ago. Nearly three thousand miles in ten days!

While I don't drive 10,000 mi. in 3 days (HOLY MOLY) I do drive a lot. I had a girlfriend in Orlando,FL and drove from Jax to there twice a week for a few months. She's now got over 15,000mi on her... in less than 6 months!

Luckily no major problems yet. Minor ones, but nothing too "MINI" related. I'm worried about the warranty now. It'll be gone in one year of ownership and I'll have 4 years of payments left! scary

Do you only get one year's warranty in the States? I was thinking we had a raw deal over here in the UK, but with the huge premiums some of you are paying over list price and the lack of warranty, I wonder if we are getting such a bad deal.

Do you have the TLC package in America?

We get 4 years or 50K miles on broken stuff, and the equivalent of TLC (free oil changes + maintence) for 3 years or 36K. You can get the 4th year of maintence for $350.

He said he was worried about the 1 year, since at that rate of milage, you would exceed 48K in only one year, and it'd be all gone.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.
