Time to say goodbye :-(

I am very sad today, as yesterday my beloved MCS was sold. I've had such happy memories with it over the last 3 years but due to getting my first house i could not afford to keep it. It was very hard but i know i will have one again some day. For now, i have bought a fiat punto which i've only had a week and is already broken

Anyway, i just wanted to say thank you to this forum and the people who have helped me with even the smallest of problems over the years. It really is a great community and i have been given some great advice.

Laura

I am the same Laura I've got a 59 plate Cooper D, bought it from new a few months before I bought my own house and due to that I just can't afford it any more, and am selling it back to Mini on Friday morning.. I feel like they're coming to take a child off me!

My new car will be a Clio, it won't compare (laregly in running costs!) but one day I will get another Mini. I almost bought a Punto the other day, sorry to hear about yours! x

Eeeee how weird exactly the same situation I feel better now knowing im not alone haha. Punto is fixed now wasn't as bad as i thought. Its not even been a week yet but ive already noticed a massive save on petrol and my insurance has gone down from £61 per month to £21 per month! But still its not fair it was awful watching him drive away in it (i even shed a little tear ), i spent the whole of the next day depressed but dont worry it gets better! Like you, i will have another one some day x

Aw so glad i'm not the only one as well and glad to hear your Punto is well again. As my Cooper is a diesel I get amazing mpg and tax is just £20 a year, now i'll be going to a 1.6 petrol so my running costs will be slightly higher, although my insurance has dropped a little, not much though! So i don't have that to think of I just hope my little Mini goes to a good home and is looked after..

Just out of interest, did you sell it to Mini? I've got a buyer coming to my work and said he would give me a cheque and take my car away, just seems odd?x

Same hear i hope it goes to a good home. I took it to MINI but they wouldnt buy it back off me because it was too old for them now (it was an 03 plate) even though i got it from them originally. I did sell it to a garage though and i keep looking at it on their website
I'd be very carefull taking a cheque mind, i did from the garage i sold it too but it was a business cheque and as they said to me if it bounced i could easily report them and they would loose their business. I also havent sent off the log book slip yet until i know its cleared which should be today. If theres not much difference in the price i would give it back to MINI, i wish i could of gave it to them. If they gave you a personal cheque and you've given them the car and it bounces, theres nothing you can do. Tell them if they want to buy the car that bad then you will wait a few extra days for them to order the money from their bank and give you it cash, if they say no they obviously haven't got the money x

Hey Laura

Sorry about your loss. Until I got my MINI, the newest car I'd ever had was a Punto (pre-reg). Of course it broke lots, as did everyone's I knew of - but just think of it as a quirky Italian thing...I had mine as the previous car died but I needed something reliable for work yet cheap as I was buying my first house.

That was a long 5 years ago, but I had to move in the meantime and then save again. I bought my dream house last year and my dream car 3 weeks ago - a MINI convertible. It WILL happen
