Mini One Coolant tank cap

How does the coolant tank cap work - generally cars have a pressurized cap but this does not appear to be the case with the Mini - what stops the cap from popping open when the coolant is under pressure with a hot engine

Nah totally different on the Cooper / One.

They run a black pressure cap very near the throttle body. The bottle is unpressurised. Why they had two totally different designs I don't know.

The caps are rubbish and I was replacing mine yearly. After a short time they no longer hold full pressure and blow out all your coolant when hot.

that's daff the whole point of pressuring the sytem is that it raises the boiling point..
