DIY High Beam Issue

Just replaced low and high beam headlamps on my 2004 MINI with Sylvania Silver Star Ultras. Low beams are fine. However, right side high beam points upward. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

If the level was ok before hand, your bulb probably isn't seated properly

Checked again and bulb is seated properly. Tried switching the right bulb with the left bulb and still the high beam points upward on the right side. So there's either something wrong with the right high beam receptacle, or the right high beam always pointed upward and I'm just noticing it after 106K...yikes!

If the lights go up with the bonnet, the adjustment can be thrown out when the bonnet is slammed closed.... just a case of adjusting the long plastic bolt at the back of the headlight unit. Failing that, possibly a self leveller stuck

Did try adjusting the plastic bolt but will try again tomorrow when it's light again. Maybe the whole unit will need to come out to see if the self leveller is stuck. Will let you know. Happy New Year, especially if you are in the UK...just a 1/2 hour 'til 2012!
