Fair offer?????

Hi all
A couple of days ago i went to view a 52 plate cooper with 73k fsh on the clock
It is sorn and been standing outside for 2 months

As you can imagine the paint is lifeless, Green slime on all window seals, one tyre flat, no tax, stinks inside, brakes rusty as a horse shoe, osr light needs replacing, and very unloved..
In the advert it had £3,500 ono must sell!

I turned up with a open mind and tried to look through the fact that the car looked a total schambles, general condition is good, just required a dam good detail, which i enjoy doing.

Took for a test drive, checked gearbox, clutch etc...all seemed fine. Thought i'd take a chance on it
So offered 3k cash, (which i had in my hand) expecting the guy to snap my hand off.... Not a chance £3,300 was the lowest he would take
Was i taking the 'p' making such a offer?? or are they hoping for too much for a car that requires sooooo much cosmetic attention ??

Seems a fair offer when this 51 plate with higher miles went for only £2,250

Thanks. Yes i thought it was a fair offer too! considering i've got to spend money on it from day one!
Also requires a service in 3k! plus door handles need painting/replacing from where rings have worn the paint off
So much for a buyers market!!!!!!!
