Offline | Can I possibly torture myself any more.... Its arrived at the dealers.....BUT we are going away for the weekend.. Do I collect it on Monday OR collect it on Thursday and take it down to Wales for the weekend....... Will 6 hours at a constant 70+ affect the break in? Offline | Re: Can I possibly torture myself any more.... As an ex mini dealer once said to me, "don't worry about the break in thats what the warrantys for!" Have to sayI think you should run it in but get the Car NOW! All you need to do is vary your engine speed on the motorway. 2 ways youcould do it, keep varying your speed between 65 and 75 or you could put it in 4th gear now and again. I say don't wait GET IT NOW! Mini on the twisty roads of wales, think of the fun ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I say "Go get it" A journey on the motorway should be fine for the break in. Don't travel long distances at the same RPM but vary both your speed (say 60-80) and engine speed by changing down into 4th now and again. I drove to South Wales recently fromn Edinburgh and from about Manchester all the way to Cardiff it was hell. Certainly didn't stay long at the same speed as it was stop/go for hours. My average speed over the last 150 miles was about 30 ![]() Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Get the car on Thursday ![]() Vary your speeds on the motorway or just swap gears every so often. I took mine on the Peaks Rin run after owning her for 4 days and had to drive 200+ miles up the motorway and vary the engine revs most of the way by using 4-6th every so often ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. | MINI2 Regular | I agree with all that has been said - GET IT NOW!! I am in a similair position, I am picking up my car on Thursday and going down to the NE of England (near Darlington)on Saturday. Don't know whether to go down the A1 as usual or the A68 for a change! As long as you try to change the revs you should be fine -and it is a good way to get some miles on it so you can really rev it once it is broken in! Next weekend I am going to York on the train! How bad is that, I'll have to leave the new arrival at home! ![]() Black Cooper, White Roof, White 5 Stars, Chrome Shark Gill Side Vents, Red & Black Cloth/Leather and Silver, Chili Pack, Single Slot C.D. Offline | Igor thinks that DaveH should get it now. Igor thinks that DaveH will not enjoy himself in Wales if DaveH thinks that there is a Mini waiting for him. Igor thinks you should not worry about running in period, as long as DaveH is sensible. Igor The Bells The Bells |
