Was about to buy, but having second thoughts!

Hello Folks,
I've been looking at a late '07 MCS Clubman with 38k on the clock at my local car 'supermarket'.
Initially it was love at first sight, and I've got a test drive booked for tomorrow, but in my head I'd already bought the thing. After a good look round I only had one concern - after start up the top end of the engine sounded a bit 'tappity' a bit like my old mk1 MX5 sounded till its hydraulic lifters had pumped up.
So I found my way here to research any potential problems and wow.....
Coked up engines, timing chain failure, knocking rear suspension etc.......
Does anyone have anything positive to say before I drive the car? The noise is nowhere near as bad as some of the horror clips of people's cars on YouTube but its a serious concern now!
Still at least I'm aware of the pitfalls before driving the car.

Sorry, I wouldn't buy a rattly one from anyone but a main dealer who will give a comprehensive 'Cherished' warranty. They are wonderful, exhilarating cars and the Clubbie is very practical but 38k is coke up territory and you need some protection against potential bills.

Well I'll take it for a good test drive tomorrow and see how it drives and if thers any hesitation on pickup or if it seems down on power.
Just can't believe such a popular modern car has so many potentially serious issues.
The last head I de-coked was also a mini, but it only had 850cc and removing the head, cleaning it up and re- lapping the valves in only took a day with lots of coffee and tab breaks, those were the days!
