2004 Mini... low mileage. Realistically, how long will it last?

My Mini is a 2004 Cooper, only done 27, 000 miles. I've got its full service history and its had two owners and has only really done 5, 000 miles a year... It hails from London. Its had a service 3 months ago.

Realistically, how long is it going to last me? I've heard of minis doing over 150, 000 miles... but as you can see, mine is 8 years old. Are the parts likely to fail anytime soon?

That's really an impossible question , any part at any time can fail , be it a brand new car or a 10 year old car , parts fail. Now what you could start to notice is age related wear and tear . A car is only as good as its owner wants it to be with regards to condition and performance , some people don't even bother changing their oil

If you take care of her and she sails through her MOT tests then just enjoy her and don't worry , especially with the kind of mileage you are doing.

I have an 2007 mini with 41k and because the previous owner didn't take care of the car I had to replace the engine. The only thing that comes with mileage is the maintenance. As long as you do your routine maintenance on time and don't let it build up into something big and costly there shouldn't be a problem

Don't worry, my land rover has done 197,000 miles and is fine. Most faults don't cause a sudden failure anyway, you get things like odd noises, slips, crunches, misfires and smoke long before failure.
Modern diesels are good for at least 250k if serviced.

Apart from the very important maintenance issue part of its longevity has to be down to how its driven too.
How was it run in to begin with? wheel spins from the start or speed gradually built up as its supposed to be.
Low mileage is not always a good thing either for the engine as it may have done many short journeys where it never warms up properly, then again high mileage at high speeds might mean the engine is still ok but everything else is past it.
Theres so many variables that can affect the end result its not easy to give a definite answer as to how long?
