| Rattling roof lining?

Having owned a 2007 Cooper since February, I’ve slowly spent the last few months tracing and eliminating a few squeaks and rattles.
Now I’m aware that the suspension is firm, and that at present it has runflat tyres, however, there is a noise (like a constant tapping sound) coming from both sides of the roof, level with my head, where the door seal meets the roof lining. (I did think at first that it was a sunroof rattle, but this doesn’t appear to be the case).
I’ve sat in both the driver and passenger seats while moving, and if I press the roof lining upwards where it meets the door seal, the noise seems to stop.
Does anyone have any experience of something similar, and short of having the roof lining taken down and refitted, any ideas of possibly how to cure it?
Its driving me mad!!
