United-Kingdom Chilli Pack Updates

HI
I have been contacted today by my dealership stating that my car that was due to be built in september with delivery in september My car being A CooperD with chilli pack, extras include auto wiper & lights and Arm rest and Black alloys. All in a convertible in White Silver. I was looking forward to delivery on the 29th of this month but now this is not going to happen due to MINI stating that they are CHANGING there options in the CHILLI pack and in ADDITION to all thats stated now Auto Wipers And Lights are going to be included. This has now removed my car from the build slot and has been pushed back to the point where they start to build the MINIS with the updated CHILLI pack so in essence saving me £90 but im not really bothered about saving money i just wanted my car now it looks like its going to be NOVEMBER. Are there any other MINI dealers out there who have been told the same over the past few days or people who have bought and ordered a similar vehicle with a CHILLI Pack please let me know
Thanks in advance

Damn, I hope not, as I am in an almost identical position.

And having had one big delay over the Recaro seat issue, I don't want another.

So I've emailed my dealer and will report back anything I get.

Thanks Angib much appreciate it is a poor position to be in knowing my car was 3 weeks away from delivery then mini due to a simple pack update pulling my car from build seems very strange as wouldnt they just say we wil build with the new chilli pack and thaats that after all they can just minus the 90 quid for the upgrade its a weird situation TBH
thanks
Lee

Now I'm gonna feel a right ****....

My dealer confirms exactly what you've said and the cutoff date is sometime this month, after which cars with this option will be delayed.

And the right **** bit? Well, the dealer was about to email me to say my car got built last week so it isn't affected. Sorry.

Wow, this software won't even let me write s - h - 1 - t, nevermind spelling it with an 'i'.

Ahh right so it is true thats a poor do i know there is now going to be a wait i thought i was going to get it so quicker than this what a nightmare. My dealer said it was possibly going to be NOVEMBER And they will try to push it to get built in october but if the build slots for cars with the chilli pack are pulled i guess we will just have to wait just annoying as i wanted to make the most of the last bit of sunshine we may get in my convertible whicis the most annoying of it all i will be using the convertible in the winter but theres nowt better than a lovely sunny day and evening spin in the lakedistrict which is five mins away what a pain in the bum
Thanks for finding out as well mate much appreciated you will have to let me know if they give you a date for delivery :-)

I was at the dealer today and they have two customers caught in this trap, both convertibles (is there some link?). One ordered early August for late September delivery and has just been told September has become December. Not the happy type of bunny...

You wouldn't want to be a dealer sales person, when you are obliged to make calls like that to customers, would you?

The dealer cannot work out why Mini have done what they have, but there do seem to be some other ordering quirks going on at present due to changing options and packs. You'd think they would just say that cars ordered up to today get the current deal and cars ordered from tomorrow get a different deal, but they don't appear to work that way.

(And to avoid crowing, I'll say discretely that I collect mine on Wednesday.)

If its going to be delayed until the end of the year you could cancel and get the new Gen 3 which wont be far off by then?
Actually a threaten to cancel might gee them up a bit?

ahh AngiB this is very useful to know however slightly concerning when you say the issues with the packs are only on convertibles and THE NUN i have heard that the Gen 3 are not even in the pipeline till 2014 as there has been no info to any dealers as i asked them this today. I am going to get a phonecall within 2 weeks to let me know what was happening but like you say you would think it would be easier to have a cut off date for cars without the extra chilli update and cars with the extra chilli update.....I wish just for once i could order a car and it be totally hassle free there always seems to be an issue when i order a new car. i thought that BMW MINI was going to be different and the way the dealership were talking that they were on really good terms with mini i thought oh good ill have it in no time HEY HUM never mind

They are altering the production line right now.
Anyway time flies 2014 will be here in a blink of the eye.
Dealers wont know much, they arent even up to speed on the differing options in the latest brochure, I had to tell my dealer what was available, they then went away and came back and said, quote: "Oh yes youre right, MINI are hopeless at keeping us informed"
So dont always count on what the dealer tells you, they know about as much as you and I.

No - the two cars affected at my dealers are convertibles, but that may be just chance.

"Oh yes you're right, MINI are hopeless at keeping us informed" is heard at my dealers too.

I have just called BMW MINI direct and they have stated that there is going to be no change to the chili pack in the 3rd quarter at all so now i have no idea what the dealer is going on about so i am going to call them and ask what is going on as there head office knows nothing about the addition of auto wipers and lights to the chili pack All i am after is a delivery date and hopefully a date i can look for ward to picking my car up. All i want is to drive my mini sad i know but i cant wait
