United-Kingdom JCW Exhaust Being Fitted Tomorrow

Hi all,

Getting my factory JCW exhaust fitted tomorrow to my R56 cooper s. Really excited! Will it make any difference at all to performance and will it be any louder than the standard one? I am hoping for it to be quite loud. I will probably want a sports cat after but they are quite pricy any recommendations? Just thought I would share my excitement too :-) Emma xxxxx

Ive got a 2012 JCW MINI, and I think the exhaust noise is very quiet and not at all noisy, I was expecting noise, but pleased to say its not, which is good for me, dont want to stand out and be noticed for the wrong reasons.

I am having the JCW system fitted to my Countryman S all4 auto tomorrow. I brought a Cooper S convertible for my fiancée and it sounds much sportier than the standard Countryman S exhaust so hopefully a JCW system will sound more sporty on my CM. I am not impressed with only having a 2 year warranty on the exhaust though as it is a 6 week old car with more or less three years warranty left. Also at over £ 700 a bit steep for what I believe is a steel system and not stainless steel. I don't want to go non BMW mini due to insurance and warranty issues. Fingers crossed it sounds good, you tube videos do not really do exhaust sounds justice in my opinion.

Thats not noisy, youve not got a 1120cc full race Imp with a cherry bomb on it, now thats makes the house windows rattle.

OK so exhaust has been fitted and it sounds awesome!!! On the down side I told the bf to take it out for a spin with my new exhaust and he said something is wrong with my car as its losing power between 4000 and 5000 revs and he said that's when it should be getting most of the power. I have searched this problem on the forum and it seems to be quite a common problem but lots of things that it could be like dechocking valves, oil pump, new turbo, new engine!, coil on spark plug causing it to miss fire. But know one really has an answer and I just wondered if this had been resolved. I had noticed that it had lost power but me being female I just thought I had got used to the speed of the car. Can anyone help? I know mini is probably going to charge a bomb to get it fixed, I just really hope its covered under warranty. Thanks Emma.

That is a downer.

Mine was de choked but had a hesitancy issue, it wasn't losing power as such. Turbo issues would also be welcomed with white smoke typically.

Did you get the garage to look over it?

Btw I only came by your post as I googled JCW exhaust for sale

Oh right sorry to dissapoint if you were looking for one. Today I was told by the mini garage that it was because my oil was on the minimum it kind of goes into a safe mode to try not to use the last of the oil up so that's why I didn't have as much power. Feel like a right idiot!! But I only topped it up in June! Turns out they use a litre of oil every 621 miles that's nothing! Still doesn't feel 100% though yet the guy at mini test drove it and said it was fine. He said there would be an engine warning light if there was something bad wrong. Would there really? It still feels like its making the same noise when it hits the rev limiter but at 5000rpm instead of 7000!! Any suggestions guys? Em x

Maybe the exhaust has now altered the engines characteristics or the ECU recognises theres a difference, maybe it makes the engine breath better so that mucks up the parameters already set up?
If its been into the dealers they might have set it back to original factory settings when previously it had been adjusted differently, chipped etc they are crafty like that.
