R50 with a JCW R56 exhaust

Hi all,

I've been looking around for the best option in terms of fitting a centre exit exhaust to a mini cooper, I don't really like the sounds of the aftermarket options from Supersprint etc but I have now found one that sounds awesome (IMO). Someone has fitted an r56 JCW exhaust to an r50, can anyone see any problems with doing this?

Any help/input appreciated! (there is a video of it on youtube but apparently I cant post urls yet!)

Thats the one! I know fitting won't just be a bolt it on job but it shouldn't be too challenging hopefully, the only thing that bothers me is the lack of heat shield?

Was gonna say, why not just contact the guy who posted the video, but I see you've already taken care of that.

Can't recall it ever being discussed on here, but it definitely appears to be doable and sounds awesome.

Haha yeah, getting replies on youtube isn't always the easiest though

If noone pops up telling me that I really shouldn't do it I think I'll just go for it! Sounds so much better than the aftermarket options that are actually made to fit

Working out a heatshield and suitable mountings should be as said quite doable.......if you go for it please photograph each step and post us all a 'How to' write up on Mini2!

Yeah I will do, just got to wait a few weeks for my budget to allow me to do this now

Don't suppose anyone can enlighten me on what a "stage 2" JCW exhaust is as opposed to the "stage 1"? And is anyone selling one 2nd hand?!

Sorry for digging up this old post, but didn't want to start a new thread for basically the same thing. Anyway just wondering did you ever get round to fitting a r56 jcw exhaust to a r50? if so what was involved in the process?

thanks luke.
