Help fininding mpg

I got a 2003 r53 and don't have the button on the stalk so I have to use the Odimeter. How do I find my average mpg is? Do I do this when driving or not?
Any help would be great

I don't think you can without an on board computer. Best to brim it and work it out the old way, actually on second thoughts you probably won't want to know, it's only bad news
