R56 mini sound system - standard is tiny

Just bought a Cooper S 08 plate love it - except the hi-fi rubbish

Look on the here /internet - not looking for a boom box car shaker - anyone got any good experienece of system using the standard dash mounted head unit - for a discrete system ? Many thanks

For a no cost improvement, swap the front and rear speaker channel. See thread on North American Motoring or buy new speakers.

Yeah I had a cooper s 2008 and the hi fi was not very good. When I upgraded to the JCW I made sure it had the Harman-Kardon Hi fi as this is much better and worth every penny. Not sure about upgrading the standard one i think BMW do an alpine upgrade but its costly and not sure how good it is.

Channel swap mod and pillar tweeter upgrade from Mikey at new mini stuff.

Can recommend as had same issue and fitted it myself. Easy 30 mins DIY job and all in for 180 quid.

Alternatively you can get just the channel swap for about 50 quid but the pillars really raise the sound stage.
