United-Kingdom Wing Mirror Glass help!!

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could help me out with some simple advice? The glass has smashed on the passenger side of my 2004 Mini Cooper. The unit looks like it is all in one piece and not damaged, so I think I just need to find a way to replace the glass.

I'd be keen to do this myself as my Mini is my first car and I'm sick of being taken advantage of by mechanics!

I have seen online that you can buy full mirror replacements or stick on glass - which would you recommend? Also, once I have bought the replacement glass, how do I fit it?

Thanks for any help!

This link below with pictures shows how, it is for replacing the mirror caps but also shows you how to pop the glass out. Heated mirrors have a couple of wires attached and the replacement glass is more expensive.
Interior/Exterior :: Replace mirror covers (WITHOUT breaking the clips!) - North American Motoring

(Stick-on glass is really a temporary measure or if you are not fussed about looking after your Mini or wish to save money).

Heya eBay shows them with clips so it's probaly a easy job
Unclip the old one or what you have left it and then clip new one on.

Thank you James - thats a great help! My mirrors are electric but I would guess that I just follow the above instructions and connect the wires to the new mirror...?!!

I'll give it a go tomorrow but I'm feeling confident that even a non-technical girl like me can follow this. Brilliant!
