Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, and am in the market for a used
MCS as my 2nd car (currently considering a 2006
MCS w/
JCW tuning kit).
I currently drive a modified 335i and own a BT tool (Bavarian Technic). For BMW owners, this is a must have for enthusiasts! It suddenly occurred to me that BT may also support Minis too, and when I quickly checked their website, was excited to see that it does!
Besides the poll, I'm interested in knowing if you guys also find the tool useful, and are satisfied with the functionality? The website provides a universal list of features, but for Minis, does it actually read and clear shadow codes (that an OBDII scanner won't be able to pickup)? This is the most important feature for me.
Also, I'm not sure if Minis have condition based service indicators (engine oil, spark plugs, brake fluids, etc), but if yes, does the BT tool allow you to reset these indicators (e.g. if you have your service done at an independent mechanic)?
How else has the BT tool helped you? For my 335i, it has been indispensable in helping me and my friends correctly diagnose issues over the years (O2 sensors, intake/exhaust solenoid codes, thermostat & water pump, high pressure fuel pump, overboost, etc etc). Correct diagnosis saves so much time & $$$ in repairs! In fact, the BT tool has even helped my mechanic before he went and purchased the real BMW diagnostics tool.
