So.. A strange question. Just brought a 56 plate Cooper s, but the dealer was unsure whether it had the chilli pack. The car its self had everything I wanted; very low mileage, full leather interior and leather gear knob, piano black interior, so I couldn't turn it down. I thought that these options were part of the chili pack? The only other signs I could see was that it had what looked like xenon headlights (with the little lights going round it), and 17'' flame spoke alloys. But that was about it... No interior lighting (that doesn't bother me though), no multifunctional steering wheel, non leather steering wheel... And I think it just has air con and not climate control. The car has only done 17k and has been barely touched so I don't think they've had them put in after, so surely this has the chili pack? The main reason I'm asking is for resale value. It doesn't have efficient dynamics either unfortunately, is that likely to affect its value?
our 05 cooper s has the chilli pack, multifunction steering wheel, climate control, full leather plus the softer leather upgrade, harmon kardon sounds ect,i think yours is a cooper s with a few tasty upgrades
i thought thats what the chilli pack was essentially? a list of tasty upgrades that you can choose from? isn't it more likely that the car has the chilli pack, but with only a few of the options? I've seen quite a few Coopers that have been sold as having the 'chilli park' but not having all of the options, like the multifunctional steering wheel?
Chilli is a predefined list of options - you spec it and you get all of them. You can also upgrade other aspects at a reduced cost, for example full leather rather than half leather.
What year is the car - I'm figuring it is a second generation model? If it is an earlier one (2006-2008 sort of age), it might have the Chilli pack - although pretty sure it should still have the interior mood lighting? In 2008, it would've included:
Half leather
Passenger seat height adjustment
Xenon headlights
Manual air conditioning
Interior lighting package
On-board computer
Bluetooth and USB
Front fogs
3-spoke leather steering wheel
16" wheels
Velour floor mats
You mention that the steering wheel isn't leather? That would indicate non-Chilli. MFSW is a paid option additional to any packs as far as I recall.
If it is a newer car (2010-ish onwards), Chilli would also include climate control, rather than manual air conditioning.
As far as the Coopers you've seen for sale - Chilli pack is different on non-S models, and doesn't include Xenon headlights, for example.
its an R56 Facelift model, but one of the very first ones (56 plate) - its strange that it seems to have elements of the Chilli pack (like the full leather), but not some other elements like the interior mood lighting or cruise control. If it doesn't have the chilli pack, will this affect its re-sale value even though it has these nice extras and very low mileage?
As any car dealer will tell you, when youre handing the car in extras dont add much to its value, when they come to re sell it it certainly does though!
Damn, thats a real shame! I was disappointed in that it didn't have efficient dynamics either. Oh well, i suppose low mileage makes up for it, and the full leather is a real bonus. Although, i'm also pretty sure it has Xenon headlights? Isn't that generally the proper indication of the chilli pack?
OP's car is a 56-plate R56, not the 60-plate onwards facelifted model.
I thought Chilli on early R56s only included standard air conditioning?
Easiest way to know for sure would be to give the reg or VIN to a dealer - I'm pretty sure packs show up on the original order/spec, rather than just the sum of their parts.
