Unhappy rear steel brake cable

HI all,

My 02 Mini cooper just failed its nct (mot to those of you on the other side of the pond) on its rear steel brake Pipes which are apparently rusted?
can anyone tell me if this is a simple job to do , ie is it going to cost the earth in a garage or can we do it ourselves like the brake pads and discs?

thanks

Jill

Easy job to do yourself for a competent home mechanic.
You will a new pipe cut to the correct length, flared at the ends for which you will need a flaring tool for the job and fitted with the new male/female connectors as appropriate.

The system then needs to to bled to remove the air from the system upon completion.

You could remove the old pipe take it to a local garage and ask them to make you up a new pipe using the original as a pattern and then refit it yourself.

Of course the braking system is a very important safety system and the job has to be done properly, if you dont think you have the necessary skill or knowledge to do it yourself then best let a garage do it for you.
