reset switch?

Someone said that there is a reset switch that will reset my power windows. Have you heard of that, and if so, where is it? I have a 2003 Mini Cooper.

OK ..... first of all - What are they doing that you'd rather they didnt ?

There's no secret 'Switch' as such, other than the open/close, but you can get the dealer to program them to fully open when holding down the 'unlock' button on the remote {this also opens the sunroof if fitted}

Other dealer programmable options are discussed in THIS thread

Because my driver's side window does not work. Someone here, can't find it now, said there is a reset switch in the glove compartment. I can't see anything.

There are 3 possible scenarios I've experienced with a 2002 Coop.
- upper limit needs resetting - wind the window up, and hold the up button for 5 - 10 seconds. This resets that little 1/2" drop it does whenever you open or close the doors.
- lower limit needs resetting. Reversal of procedure. Wind all the way down and hold for 5-10 seconds. This resets the one touch up / down feature.
- lastly buggered if I know what causes it, but you give the door a hard thump between the door speaker and the opening handle and it springs to life.

Or lastly it could just be that something has broken??

Thats because there's nothing there

However, I did a search and found the window reset procedure that you do if the window isnt returning fully is {while doors are shut} to hold the relevant window switch in the up position for around 10 secs.
I suppose youve got nothing to loose in trying this, but if still not working then sounds like possible faulty winder motor.

UtilityGuy, if it goes open but not closed, how do you get it shut? I'm scared to open mine for that reason.

it will open on Auto when you flick the switch but you have to keep your finger in the up position on the switch to get it to close fully,
