Offline | What was the MINI designed on? Does anyone know what CAD (Computer Aided Design) system the MINI was designed on? I’m particularly interested to know what surfacing tool they used for those sexy, A class curves!!! |

Offline | I agree it can't be for the original new MINI model. For one thing it is way too wide. I've heard several things about this picture:

Offline | Re: What was the MINI designed on? The dull but factural answer to your question is this: CAD system was Catia v.4 by Dassault in France. The industry standard surfacing tool is Icemsurf Both are very expensive to buy ($20,000 + per license!), so are limited to the big players. The clay model is digitised into a "cloud" of data points, Icemsurf turns these single points into a nice smooth surface model and Catia is used to create the structure under the skin. ![]() Cooper Chili - Silk Green & Black, Climate Contol, Heated Jets, ASC+T, Alarm Arrived Nov 30 - Love it to bits |
