Replace Mini Alternator

Hi,

I have a Mini One 1.4 Diesel 2006 (R50 I believe).

The alternator has gone, so the battery is dead and therefore I can no longer start the car without jumping it.

I have managed to source a replacement alternator, however, I'm trying to find someone to fit it in London (South West London).

Could anyone please suggest a garage and roughly how much this job should cost?

Hey did you ever find out how much it cost to replace your alternator? I'm going through something similar

A tensioner seized because something from the alternator broke off and jammed into the belt? Just been told that I need a replacement alternator and the garage have quoted, "Around £180 for the unit and around three hours to fit..." they were very vague and wouldn't give me any more info, not even how much they charge per hour!.

The alternator cost me £190 off the internet - garages quoting me £450 for just the part!!! (my mini is a diesel, so the alternator is more expensive compared to a petrol engine).

I had a friend in the end fit it - paid him £100 - took about 2 - 3 hours in total.

Garages were quoting me £700-£800 in total (London based)
