Yes......straight swap but use your own wheel bolts as I think Mk2 has larger bolt threads in the hubs.

Yeah, the bolt size thing is weird - the 2nd Gen cars have bigger bolts (M14 instead of M12) but the holes in 1st gen wheels are the same size, so the bigger 2nd gen bolts fit fine.

On the gen 2 so you may have problem.

MINI Cooper Forum - MINI2 Mini Cooper Forums - FAQ & DIY: Wheels and Tyres

Can all OEM wheels be fitted to either generation MINI?
NOTE: The information below applies only to wheels for R50, R52, R53, R55, R56, R57 models. Wheels for R60 models have a different bolt pattern and will therefore not fit.

On July 12, 2006 the size of wheel bolts was changed from M12x1.5 to M14x1.25. There exists a misconception that this change in wheel bolt size precludes fitting early OEM wheels on later model cars. This is simply not true as all OEM wheels have holes large enough for either size wheel bolt.

It's the front disk brake size that determines which OEM wheels will fit as shown below:
+---------------------+-----------+----------+
| Generation - Models | Disk Size | Wheels |
+---------------------+-----------+----------+
| 1st - All | 276 | 15" All |
| | | 16" All |
| | | 17" All |
| | | 18" All |
+---------------------+-----------+----------+
| 2nd - Cooper / One | 280 | 15" All |

| | | 16" R119 |

I'm fairly confident that I'm not, but you aren't the first person to think that - it's actually the staff code of a place I used to work (first two letters of first name, + first three letters of family name) and nearly everyone who ever worked there still thinks of themselves by the code.
