Problem in replacing bypass valve

Hi,
this is my first post in the forum and I hope you guys can give a little advice on my problem. Yesterday I tried to fit my new bypass valve, however, when I came to removing the intercooler/supercharger horn, the alloy casing of the horn was securely stuck around the bottom of the three bolts. The casing was nice and free around the top two bolts, but nice and stuck around the bottom bolt. My question is have you any advice on the best way to coax the alloy casing from its grip on the bolt without causing any damage?

cheers
Dave

Hi ya

my one was the same but a top stud, it basically corroded a round the stud, i got the super charger duct out the way ie undo the clip on the by pass valve then push the duct down wards but go careful of you will brake the mounting lug on the duct that fits the SC. this will give you a bit more wiggle room, to do this you will have to undo your throttle body to release the duct
give it a good spray or plus gas and use a heat gun to warm it up not a blow lamp :-) then more plus gas and keep TAPPING with a sort mallet.
it just one of those thing you just got to keep working at it will come just takes time. clean out the holes and use grease when you put it back to gether

hope this helps

Hi

no problem there is always someone here at mini2 that can help.
As a little thing that may help get some plus gas if your using the car everyday day give it a little spray each day give it a good chance to soak in over the week
Might help Coe the weekend

Update,
I took Marque's advice and purchased some Plus Gas. I have been spraying the problem thread/stud all week as advised. Attempted to replace the bypass valve this afternoon and success the housing came off no problem and the bypass valve has been renewed.

Out of interest the car picks up a lot better with the new valve fitted, especially at lower or mid throttle; before I was experiencing the yo yo effect which could only be overcome with full throttle.

Thanks for the advice well pleased.

cheers
Dave.
