1st post! 2010 vs 2011 model

Hi all, I have been lurking on this form for a while now, but have always been able to find the answers I need and so have never joined! But now I'm stuck with a simple one.. I'm looking at buying a R56 cooper s with the 184hp motor. Now I know this was standard in the 2011 facelift model but was also available in some 2010 models before the facelift. Where any other changes made to the 2011 facelift other than the bumpers ? Or should I save some money and go pre facelift 184hp.

The manufacturers always do some sort of revamp/up grade every model year.
This normally comprises of trim changes and options that were extras the previous year becoming standard on the next.
I know the rear lights on the 2012/13 MINIs are now LED and flash under hard braking.
The silver switch panels inside are now black, only small differences but difference none the less
The front grille on my 2012 JCW is slightly different to the previous year having vents deleted along the top edge.
So there will be small differences every year even though they basically look the same still to the casual eye.

Thanks for the quick reply, so it's all really cosmetic? I'm only really concerned about any mechanical changes. As long as the engines are the same ill go with the 2010 model and save some pennies. Is death rattle still a problem in the newer 184bhp engine ?

Nope, death rattle only effected 2007-2010 ( until the face lift model ) R56 MCS. This was the PSA group built engine, the 2010 facelift model 184bhp onwards are BMW engines.

Ok so to confirm, all the 184hp motors are built by BMW and are free from death rattle ? even 2010 ones ?

Just picked my self up some nice second hand BBS LM's (good price), look amazing! Just need a nice mini to go with them now
