04 CVT Auto Trans upgradable to 07 S Auto Trans?

Hello,

Is a 2007 Cooper S auto transmission compatible with a 2004 non S model? I would like to get a non CVT trans to put in my 2004. My transmission went out a year ago and I would like to make the right choice. I am looking at a 2007 cooper s auto tranny and want to know if it will work in my 2004 non S model cooper. Please help.

Thanks Caveman. I know the CVT Transmission computer module is compatible 02-06 base models. Wonder if the 07 Trans bolts up to my 04 motor, I may be able to get 07 S Transmission computer and switch that out to make it work? Hope to find out more through research. Just trying to find out if transmission even fits first, then go from there. Thanks Again.

sorry read it incorrectly, actually copper S's never had cvt transmissions
