England Mini Cooper Drivers door lock problem..

Hi I am new to this site.

I am after anyones expert advice?! I have a 2005 Mini Cooper, the other morning when it was very cold/snowy I got out of my car to remove the snow and the drivers door locked meaning I was locked out of the car with the ignition running! I have done this a number of times and the door has never locked itself. Then 2 days later I sat in my car started the ignition as soon as I did this the door locked itself again! Does anyone know of any known locking issues with the Mini?! It has never played up before and only usually locks when the car moves.

Thanks

Not heard of that one before.
The car does auto relock if you unlock the car and dont open a door, after about 60 secs it will relock, if this is enabled, you can disable and enable this function through the car computer, but the car should not relock once the door is opened and certainly not on its own if the key is in the ignition unless its being driven.
But Im talking Gen 2 cars here, yours is a Gen 1 I expect? different ignition system.
Could be with all the rain we've had water/damp has got into the door lock electrics maybe??

On the Gen 1 /Mk1 Mini's only the Dealer can program the various options on the way the car locks.......may just be the cold/damp weather has got into a connector on the BC1. I have had the same happen on a Mercedes once and got auto-locked out, so I now always leave the drivers door ajar if I get out when the keys are still in the ignition. Not so bad if it happens at home as I have access to the spare set of keys!
