I can't imagine it would hold for very long. That is where it goes tho, u just meet the correct brackets.

Purely a lightweight cosmetic cover, would not fit and not strong enough to hold the weight of a spacesaver. The black plastic tray gets discarded when you fit the spacesaver spare kit.

If i changed the nuts/bolts, I really cant see why I couldnt use it. I also cant see why it is there at all.

Thanks

Sometimes the undertrays fitted are there purely for aerodynamics to improve the airflow under the car and thus the economy.
You need to fit the purpose made carrier for you space saver wheel provided you have the exhaust system that will allow it to fit underneath without it fouling it.

Hope I'm not the unlucky one following you on the motorway if it comes off.

So you are going to climb underneath with a screwdriver/spanner while holding up a heavy wheel at the same time?.......it won't fit inside the shallow tray and it is not strong enough to be safe or secure.......try bodging it up if you must but as already said I would not want to be behind you on a motorway when it falls off.
