DIY Gearbox differences?

Hey Guys,

Wierd one here, have a '57 plate 'justa' cooper, but have on borrow a '12 plate one.

The gearbox on this one looks to be massively longer than on my coop, to the point there in 6th, you are doing around 85 clicks per hour at 3000RPM, whilst in the coop it's 70 clicks per hour at 3000RPM. As far as i'm aware there should be no difference in the box? Did BMW fit a longer box to newer cars?

Also it has NIL written in the cost box on the tax disk, but checking i can't see a mini that doesn't pay road tax?

Managed 42MPG mixed driving in the one, which is way better than i get in the coop - i'm blaming the shorter box for this!

RealOEM.com BMW R56 Cooper Manual Transmission GS6-55BG

GS6-55BG

pt number 23007573120

The one i'm using has -

RealOEM.com BMW R56N One Manual Transmission GS6-55BG

GS6-55BG
pt number 23007607128

Road tax on a 2012 Cooper petrol is zero for the first year and then £95 every year there after, this is to do with the emissions CO2 rating.

Anyone know the ratios for both boxes? Really would like the one's 6th gear in my coopers box!

You would think that the car with the least power / torque would have the shorter ratio gearbox to help it accelerate and keep speed when approaching inclines.

Is there much difference in torque between the One & Cooper
