How close were you to the gritting lorry to get damage? I don't recall ever getting paint or windscreen damage after driving behind a gritting lorry.

You can get a similar situation when they pass going in the opposite direction too, although the other day when one was coming towards me the driver did switch it off until we passed, which I thought was good of him, there wasnt much traffic on the road at the time though.
Best idea is buy a rubbish car for the winter and keep a nice one for the summer.

What with potholes and gritting lorries and the grit laid on roads it's a war against cars out there. I have had to replace a run flat due to a pothole and it damaged the alloy wheel but thankfully only slightly, the tyre fitter balanced it with only a slight counter weight. I had a V8 vantage and cringed every time I took it out due to the state of our roads.

If they had planned it properly they should have launched the GP in May last year instead.

It truly is the worst feeling when one is coming toward you on a narrow road. No place to hide just have to grit your teeth (no pun intended) and drive through it!
