United-Kingdom Canbus

Hi...I am new here and new to new Mini ownership, so please excuse what may be a dumb question.....
I have seen mention of the canbus system and some replacement bulbs are listed as canbus bulbs, I have bought a 2007 R56 Cooper, I would like to upgrade the headlight & sidelight bulbs and possibly rear bulbs too, can anyone tell me if I need canbus spec'd bulbs.
Any suggestions for good bulbs also welcome ...but not silly money ones

Cheers
Steve

You'll need canbus friendly ones for the sidelights, however I bought LED's for the rear but they flickered so they had to come out. Number plate ones work a treat though as do the ones for the interior. Have a look on eBay, cheap as chips, just spend the most on the front sidelights as they're the most visible. :-)

Thanks P10D, I take it any of the non-error canbus sidelight bulbs will be ok then? I take it the headlight bulbs are not canbus types and can be replaced by any of the after market upgrades (white light types) ? I quite fancy having whiter/brighter headlights & sidelights.
.
Thanks again
Steve

'error free' LED bulbs just mean they have a resistor in them to bring the resistance up to that of a normal bulb (as other wise you would get an error about the bulb being blown!)

Headlights will be fine, you won't find any LED headlights (yet!)

Yes, otherwise they'll pop up an annoying warning message.
Can't speak for the headlights as I have xenons however I think CANBUS is only for LED bulbs as they use a lot less power than standard ones. So you should be fine to get whiter bulbs.

Cheers for that, that all makes sense now
Are the headlight bulbs H4 or H13, I have seen both mentioned ?(2007 R56)
It seems Osram Nightbreaker headlight bulbs from NewMINIstuff look like they give a good results

Just dug my manual out and it says H4. Although I'm not responsible if you buy them and they don't fit :-P

I ended up with about 3 pairs as they state 36mm but they're longer than that. I'd go for 39mm.
