2005 ipod adapter and rhythmbox

I recently synced my ipod from linux with rhythmbox, and it seems to work
pretty well, including in the Mini, using the factory ipod adapter... except...
it is like it is always on "random"...

I mostly use random play anyhow, but sometimes a song will come up and I'll
turn random off and listen to the whole album, but now that doesn't work...

Anyone else use rhythmbox? Got any ideas? Maybe I'll sync it with
gtkpod and see what happens...

Alright! At lunch I realized that when not on random, songs are coming
out in alphabetical order by song... sounded pretty random until I realized
what was going on. I probably left the iPod on some unusual (for me)
menu setting or something... I bet it will be working like "normal" on
the way home...

Almost everything on my iPod came from CDs I own. A couple of "CD"s
I bought on iTunes seem to have DRM, or are encoded with a codec I don't
have on my linux box... that's the next thing to get straightened out... it is starting
to feel real good to be free of my corporate masters.

ipod sort order solved...

Well... the iPod continued to play songs in alphabetical order. Using the
rhythmbox UI sort tools, I could change the order of songs in rhythmbox,
but not on the iPod when hooked to the Mini... alphabetical order by song, no
matter what.

So I studied rhythmbox's lower level bits and pieces. There's an xml file (rhythmdb.xml)
that describes each entry (song) in the rhythmbox library. I wrote an awk script
to cause oll the <title> elements to contain artist-album-title instead of just title.

Now when I plug in the iPod, stuff plays in a logical order
